Making Ceramics and Pottery?
I am looking to make a piece of pottery for a school project. I need to model it after a Chinese neolithic pot. So I need it to be a very unique shape. Are there any pottery places that will let me use a potter's wheel or will make a piece of pottery from a picture I submit or something? All I can find are "paint your own pottery" places that have already made pieces of pottery that you just paint and then they glaze and fire them. That is NOT what I am looking for. Any Ideas?
school does not have a kiln, potter's wheel, or clay.
The best thing for you to do is search for pottery places in your area and call or go in and ask. There are several here in N.GA where you can watch the potters at work, and I think those types of places would be most likely to agree to let you use their equipment. If you explain that it's for a school project and what you need to do, I would think they would be happy to let you make your piece and maybe even give you some pointers. Look under Pottery in your local phone book, and also try the Art Galleries, Dealers & Consultants heading.
